Welcome to Mayflower Nursery
We are a wholesale and retail nursery, specialising in supplying plants to the public, landscapers and other nurseries. Our plants are available to retail at the Fresh and Green Deli @ Hartebeeskraal Farm on the Wemmershoek Road.
About Us
Carmen is a qualified and experienced horticulturist, who studied at Pretoria Technikon.
After her studies she spent a gap year working as a volunteer in the United Kingdom at the National Trust, www.nationaltrust.org.uk/glendurgan-garden and in the Comoros Islands.
Back in South Africa she worked for 3 years in the retail nursery industry in Nelspruit in the Lowveld before moving to Paarl in the Western Cape to start her own business in 2002.
This family run business is comprised of a wholesale division, landscaping, garden maintenance and has recently added a retail outlet, conveniently situated on the R301 at the Freedom Village.
Carmen is assisted by a very capable team.
Cobus (The right-hand man) has been with Mayflower since 2008 and leads an experienced team in making the garden designs come to life on site. Wilna (The right-hand woman) who many of our loyal customers have come to know and love, runs the sales and propagation at the nursery. Vino (Deputy Foreman), our rising star who stepped in to help lead the team when needed and became the organiser of all things “site prep”
In the wings are Francois - husband, partner and frequently stepping into the role of nursery manager on a Saturday. And Barbara who arrived to assist with admin and bookkeeping, fell in love with plants, and never left.
